Prabowo: Successful Nations Are United and Magnanimous

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that a successful, great nation capable of achieving prosperity for its people is one that is united and possesses a magnanimous spirit. “There are things I have learned from studying the history of human civilisation. There are things I have come to believe. A successful nation, a great nation, a nation that can achieve prosperity for its people is a nation that is united, a nation with a big soul, not a small one,” Prabowo said in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Friday. The President said this view was derived from his ongoing study of human civilisation history. According to Prabowo, an advanced nation is not one filled with resentment, division, envy, malice, and suspicion among groups. Prabowo believes the Indonesian people must respect and love their own nation because no other nation will show greater concern for Indonesia. The President reminded that efforts to divide the nation have existed since the past through divide et impera (divide and rule) politics. Therefore, unity must be continuously maintained. “Only with love for the homeland do we love the Indonesian nation. We must respect and love our own nation. No other nation will respect us, no other nation will pity us. In fact, since long ago they have wanted to divide us, divide et impera,” he said. According to Prabowo, leaders must be willing to be magnanimous for the greater good of the nation. On the occasion, the President also touched on Indonesia’s experience of being colonised for hundreds of years, humiliated, and having its natural wealth exploited. The President said there are still certain parties who look down on Indonesia. There are still certain groups, nations, or countries that are envious of Indonesia’s wealth and have an interest in taking advantage of that wealth, including by dividing Indonesia. “There are certain groups, certain nations, certain countries that are envious of us, envious because we are rich, thinking about how to steal our wealth, and if possible, to break Indonesia apart,” he said. Furthermore, the President stated he would not give up when the people’s interests are threatened, especially regarding efforts to overcome poverty and hunger. Prabowo stated that fulfilling food needs is a key requirement for a nation’s success. “I am not willing for the Indonesian people to be poor, I am not willing. I am not willing for Indonesian children to go hungry, I am not willing. Whatever a handful of elites in Jakarta think, that a hungry stomach is not important, I disagree. For me, it is important that the Indonesian people are hungry,” said Prabowo. “No country is successful if it cannot produce food for its own people. And Alhamdulillah, Indonesia is now able to provide food for its people,” he concluded.
