President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, conveyed ‘Ramadan Mubarak’ greetings while in Jordanian airspace on Tuesday evening. This occurred as the presidential aircraft entered the airspace of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and received special escort from two F-16 fighter jets of the Jordanian Air Force.

Information from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Wednesday explained that this air escort was more than just a standard security procedure. It also served as a symbol of high respect from the Kingdom of Jordan towards the Indonesian Head of State.

Upon entering Jordanian airspace, a warm communication took place between the escort fighter jet pilots and President Prabowo via air radio.

‘Your Excellency, Mr. President, Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh. This is Lion One speaking. Your Excellency, on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, we are honoured to welcome you to Jordanian airspace,’ said the Jordanian fighter jet pilot while exchanging messages via air communication.

Two F-16s were seen flying precisely on the right and left sides of the presidential aircraft. This formation accompanied the President’s aircraft until it approached the landing process at Marka Military Airport, Amman.

The atmosphere became even more solemn when one of the pilots also conveyed greetings for the holy month of Ramadan to the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

‘It is a great honour to escort your flight this evening. We hope you enjoy your visit and have a safe landing. Ramadan Mubarak, Sir,’ said the pilot.

In response to the greetings, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the honour given. He also thanked Abdullah II and the people of Jordan for the friendly welcome he received.

‘Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, Lion Flight, Indonesia One. This is President Prabowo Subianto from Indonesia,’ Prabowo said, introducing himself.

In the communication, the President again expressed his gratitude for the air escort and conveyed warm greetings to the King of Jordan.

‘Thank you very much, Lion Flight. This is Indonesia One. Once again, Ramadan Mubarak. May you all be blessed in this holy month. Wassalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,’ said President Prabowo.

Shortly after the escort ended, the President’s aircraft landed safely at Marka Military Airport, Amman. This marked the beginning of a series of President Prabowo’s working visit agendas in the Jordanian capital.

This visit is President Prabowo’s second to Jordan. Previously, on April 13, 2025, he also received a similar honour in the form of an F-16 fighter jet escort upon entering the country’s airspace.

It is hoped that this visit will further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Jordan, especially in the fields of education, religion, strategic issues in the Middle East, and support for the Palestinian struggle. (Ant/E-4)

President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the need for closer coordination between Indonesia and Jordan in responding to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, especially in Gaza and the West Bank.

Today (February 25), Prabowo met with the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, to discuss education and Middle Eastern issues.
