Prabowo Subianto Hands Over the 2027 State Budget Draft to the DPR, Misbakhun: This Is a New Tradition

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the DPR’s 19th Plenary Session of the Fifth Session Year, to be held at 09:00 Western Indonesia Time on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. He will deliver the document ‘draft RAPBN 2027’ or the Macro Economic Framework and the Fiscal Policy Stance (KEM-PPKF) within the RAPBN 2027. This marks the first occasion in which a President attends a plenary meeting to hand over the KEM-PPKF.

DPR Commission XI Chairman M. Misbakhun spoke about the President’s attendance, describing it as a new tradition. ‘The macroeconomic framework and the fiscal policy stance are usually read aloud by the Minister of Finance on behalf of the President. So if today they are read directly by the President, that indeed becomes a new tradition,’ Misbakhun said at the DPR building, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

‘Nevertheless, the KEM-PPKF, the macroeconomic framework and the fiscal policy stance, are those that are regularly carried out on 20 May as the initial round, the kick-off for the first round of APBN discussions,’ he added.

Misbakhun said there is a desire on the part of the President to read the KEM-PPKF directly because he sees the State Budget from the outset as a serious policy that must be communicated to the wider public. He also noted that the public will be watching this closely, wanting to pay careful attention to the President’s focus within the KEM-PPKF. Misbakhun urged that the President’s presence in the DPR not be drawn into discussions about the IHSG or the rupiah’s depreciation. ‘In the matter of the KEM-PPKF, the exchange rate is only one aspect within our macroeconomic framework. Our macroeconomic assumptions contain many parameters,’ he said.
