Prabowo Subianto Announces Indonesia Will Soon Achieve Fuel Self-Sufficiency
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia will soon achieve self-sufficiency in fuel (BBM) amid a global crisis. “Our fuel is still secure; in a few years, not long from now, we will achieve fuel self-sufficiency, energy self-sufficiency,” said Prabowo during the International Labour Day commemoration at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/4/2026). The government, he said, continues to strive to realise national energy independence. According to him, most of the proposals are deemed reasonable and will be advocated by the government. “Brothers and sisters, pay attention: the entire world is in crisis, many countries are already panicking, but we are still secure; we have achieved food self-sufficiency, our food is secure,” he stated. Prabowo also announced the issuance of Presidential Decree Number 10 of 2026 on the establishment of a Task Force for Mitigating Layoffs (PHK) and Worker Welfare. “If there are entrepreneurs who give up, don’t worry; our country is strong, our country will defend the Indonesian people, don’t worry,” he added.
