Prabowo stresses that prosperity must not be just a slogan

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto said prosperity must not be reduced to a slogan, as the nation’s economic strength must be felt tangibly by the public. He made the remarks at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Teams (TPAKD) in Jakarta on Thursday.

Prabowo said the government’s economic policy was aimed at improving public welfare, which meant raising people’s incomes and ensuring every family had genuine purchasing power.

He said the country’s true economic strength must be felt in practical terms by farmers in villages, fishers along the coast, market traders, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and women working to support their families’ finances.

“Our economic policy must be able to improve people’s welfare. Welfare must not be just words or a slogan. Its true meaning is that people’s incomes, in real terms, must increase,” Prabowo said.

To achieve this, the President said the central and regional governments must be able to control and safeguard the nation’s wealth.

“Indonesia’s natural resources must be protected and managed for the greatest possible prosperity of the people,” he said.

On efforts to improve public welfare, Prabowo described the disbursement of Rp53.15 trillion in productive loans to more than two million borrowers between August and October 2026 by 343 financial services institutions as an achievement to be proud of.

Most recipients were lower-income urban residents, people in rural areas, online motorcycle taxi drivers, market traders, farmers and fishers.

The President therefore set a target of increasing lending to the public to Rp400 trillion in 2027, benefiting 28 million families.

“If you count their wives and children, that means multiplying the figure by four – roughly 100 million people. That is what we are capable of now,” Prabowo said.
