Pancasila is more than just a historical document

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has stressed that Pancasila serves as Indonesia’s firm foundation in confronting global conflicts that indirectly affect the national economy.

‘Amid a world increasingly divided by disputes, geopolitical rivalries, trade wars, and economic uncertainty, Indonesia has a solid anchor. That anchor is Pancasila,’ Prabowo said while leading the Pancasila Founding Day ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs grounds in Jakarta on Monday.

The president stated that current global dynamics present serious challenges for many countries, from geopolitical competition to economic volatility affecting national stability and development.

He said Indonesia possesses strong foundational capabilities to address this situation because Pancasila emerged from the nation’s history, experiences, and aspirations, uniting its diversity.

Prabowo described Pancasila as the foundation enabling Indonesia’s hundreds of ethnic groups spread across thousands of islands to remain united under a shared national purpose.

He emphasised that Pancasila must be the primary guide in all aspects of national life and governance, including political, legal, social, cultural development, and the national economic system.

According to Prabowo, Pancasila’s values also underpin the government’s ongoing national economic transformation to ensure equitable distribution of economic growth benefits among the population.

‘We are and will continue to implement national transformation strategies. Our strategy is essentially a transformation aligned with Pancasila,’ Prabowo said.

He cited various programmes such as food security, natural resource downstreaming, Free Nutritious Meals, and strengthening rural economies through Red and White Cooperatives as efforts to ensure development benefits are not confined to a select few.

‘And I am confident that when we earnestly implement Pancasila in politics, law, culture, and especially in the economy, Indonesia will not only be a prosperous nation but also a respected nation among the global community,’ he said.

The president ultimately called on all citizens to uphold and practise Pancasila’s values to realise a just, prosperous, sovereign, and dignified Indonesia.
