Prabowo Stresses Mastery of Science and Technology as Key to National Progress

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the mastery of science and technology is the primary key to a nation’s progress. He made the remarks during a meeting with 150 researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday.

“Indeed, we all understand that the development of a nation is determined by whether that nation is capable of mastering science and technology or not. So, a nation that is able to master science and technology will advance rapidly. The key is science and technology,” Prabowo said.

According to the President, the mastery of science and technology cannot be separated from the quality of education. Therefore, Prabowo called education the most important foundation in building superior human resources.

Prabowo also invited all levels of government and the research community to build a work culture based on facts and reality. According to him, every problem must be faced objectively so that the right solution can be found through a scientific approach.

The President added that Indonesia needs an increasing number of superior human resources to accelerate the mastery of science and technology and to enhance the nation’s competitiveness.

“I deliberately invited you to the Palace because I wanted to see, perhaps for the first time not in too much detail and not too comprehensively, but to get an overview of the results you have achieved at BRIN,” Prabowo said.

He expressed his appreciation to the researchers present and hoped that on the next occasion he could also visit BRIN campuses. “I hope I might also be able to come and see your campuses. I once visited the former LIPI campus, if I am not mistaken, in Cibinong and several other places,” the President said.
