President Prabowo Subianto has stressed that Indonesia’s economic growth and investment achievements must be able to improve the welfare of the people.

He made the statement during his State Address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) on Friday, 14 August 2026. According to him, Indonesia can still achieve solid economic growth and investment amid global uncertainty.

“But I emphasise before this Assembly: for me, growth and investment are not the ultimate goal. My goal is the welfare of the people,” he said.

From an investment perspective, investment realisation reached Rp1,010 trillion and created more than 1.4 million jobs in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, Indonesia also recorded economic growth of 5.45 percent year-on-year in the same period.

However, according to him, these figures are not the final achievement. Every rupiah of investment and economic growth must provide benefits to the public.

“Every rupiah of investment must create jobs. Every policy must improve people’s lives. That is the orientation of the Government I lead,” he explained.

Furthermore, he believes that the government can achieve such economic growth thanks to appropriate policies. He is optimistic that Indonesia’s economic growth will become even more solid by the end of the year.

“With the right policies, I am confident that our economic growth by the end of this year can reach 6 percent,” he concluded.
