Prabowo Stresses Courage to Acknowledge Difficulties and Seek Solutions as Key to National Success

President Prabowo Subianto has stressed that a country’s success is not determined by its ability to avoid problems, but by the courage to face and resolve every difficulty and challenge. Prabowo emphasised the importance of a culture that is open to criticism, input, and collaborative efforts to find solutions. According to him, every difficulty must be faced with courage, not avoided or covered up. Therefore, the government must be brave enough to acknowledge its shortcomings and work hard to find a way out. “Because I believe that difficulties must be faced. Difficulties must be faced, and we must be brave enough to face difficulties, brave enough to acknowledge difficulties, and work hard to find solutions to those difficulties,” Prabowo said at the closing of the National Sarasehan for the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention in Jakarta on Sunday. He affirmed to the rectors and academics present that every proposal received by the government would be studied and followed up as part of efforts to improve governance. “I have received the list of proposals and questions submitted, which were quite numerous. I promise I will pay attention to each one,” he continued. The President said this view was derived from various inputs he had received over time. Prabowo believes that successful organisations and nations are those that can honestly identify problems and take steps to overcome them. “I got this from a lot of input. Successful organisations, societies, and countries are those that are brave enough to know, to seek out difficulties and shortcomings, and then overcome them,” he said. On the same occasion, Prabowo also stressed the importance of safeguarding academic freedom on campuses. He considered differences of opinion to be normal in higher education, as long as they are directed towards generating ideas and innovations beneficial to society. Prabowo expressed hope that universities would continue to focus on developing science and technology that can provide tangible benefits to the people. The President also reminded that the entire education ecosystem, both public and private, ultimately receives support from the state through various forms of subsidies. “Let campuses actively engage in science and technology to provide benefits to the people who finance these campuses, who finance all educational institutions. The private sector plays a very important role, but the private sector also enjoys the people’s money from electricity subsidies, fuel subsidies, with all the efforts we make. So, brothers and sisters, this is statehood,” he said.
