Prabowo stresses commitment to investing heavily in education
“Education is the key to our nation’s resurgence. I will prioritize and invest heavily in education for the sake of our nation’s future,” he emphasized after monitoring Cilacap 1 State High School, Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday.
The president told the press that the government will continue to accelerate the renovation and revitalization of schools across Indonesia, targeting the completion of repairs for approximately 288,000 schools by 2028.
Last year, in 2025, 17,000 schools were renovated, and the government plans to revitalize another 70,000 by the end of this year. He further targeted the renovation of 100,000 schools in 2027 and 2028.
In addition, the president announced plans to equip every classroom with a smart board or interactive flat panel (IFP) as part of an initiative to upgrade educational facilities.
Prabowo added that with schools currently equipped with only one or two units, the government is pushing to provide three additional IFPs per school across Indonesia this year.
This initiative is expected to make teaching and learning more interactive while streamlining access to digital syllabuses. This will allow both teachers and students to easily review any lessons they need.
He further explained that the government plans to set up a central studio in Jakarta, with top-tier teachers who will be connected to students across the country through the IFPs.
“For instance, we can bring in native speakers to teach English to everyone who needs it. It’s the same with Mandarin; we want our students to be proficient in English, Mandarin, and several other foreign languages,” he remarked.
