Prabowo States There Are Still Disappointing Officials

Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has stated that there remain government officials and bureaucrats whose performance is disappointing and has caused Indonesia to face significant difficulties.

“We recognise that this nation still faces many obstacles, many difficulties, many shortcomings,” said Prabowo during the inauguration of Bailey Bridge and Armco Bridge in Aceh on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“These shortcomings are essentially shortcomings from officials, bureaucrats, and personnel. On one hand, many personnel work extraordinarily well. On the other hand, there are still certain leadership elements that have been disappointing in their sense of responsibility to the nation and state,” he added.

He stated that the government should not only speak positively.

“We must acknowledge this. We should not always speak about things that are good and sweet,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo explained that he felt compelled to make this statement because the government is aware that the world is currently in a precarious condition.

“I want to convey this because we are aware and understand that our world is now full of dangerous dynamics. Wars are breaking out everywhere, in almost all regions of the world. Especially in the Middle East,” said Prabowo.
