Prabowo: Some Indonesians Hope the Nation Collapses

President Prabowo Subianto has highlighted the prevalence of negative narratives about Indonesia circulating on social media. He stated that there are parties who continuously portray Indonesia as being in a bleak situation and even hope for the country’s failure, despite Indonesia recording various strategic achievements. This was conveyed by Prabowo during the launch of the B50 biodiesel programme at the KM 57 Cikampek Rest Area, Karawang Regency, West Java, on Thursday, 9 July 2026. Prabowo initially reminded the nation to abandon a culture of envy and mutual sabotage, as the world is currently full of competition between countries. “Feelings of envy, spite, wanting to bring down others, wanting to embarrass one’s own relatives, colleagues, and nation. Yet the world is full of competition,” he asserted. Prabowo noted that amidst global competition, many countries do not wish to see Indonesia progress. He therefore urged the public not to participate in weakening their own nation. “Many countries are envious of us, many countries hate us. We never hate anyone, but the reality is many are spiteful, envious, they want to trick us and badmouth us,” he said. Prabowo then addressed various narratives circulating on social media, such as claims that Indonesia is in chaos, bleak, and on the verge of collapse. “Campaigns on social media say Indonesia is chaotic, Indonesia is bleak, Indonesia is dark, it will collapse, it will collapse. Imagine, some Indonesians themselves are hoping for collapse, ladies and gentlemen,” he stated. Prabowo reminded the public to be wary of such narratives and not to be easily influenced by information that could weaken national optimism. “So we must be vigilant. That is why I deliberately attended today, this is a day full of pride, it will be remembered, and it has already opened the world’s eyes,” he said. According to Prabowo, the launch of the B50 biodiesel is proof that Indonesia is capable of delivering breakthroughs that attract global attention. He admitted to being surprised that several international figures have begun discussing Indonesia’s success in maintaining energy stability and protecting its people amidst global dynamics.
