President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his determination to continue the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The commitment was conveyed by Prabowo during his speech at the Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence at the Nusantara Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026). “I am determined to continue the MBG programme, but with improvements and efficiency,” he stated. On the occasion, Prabowo shared his assessment of the corruptors involved in the MBG programme. As is known, the Attorney General’s Office has arrested a number of individuals, including former head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana, on suspicion of criminal acts of corruption in the MBG programme at BGN for the 2025-2026 period. “I consider those who would steal from the food meant for these children to be barbaric people, people who are unworthy of our respect. In my view, this has completely lost any sense of humanity,” said Prabowo.
