Prabowo: Single-Window Natural Resources Exports for National Interest
President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that the natural resources (SDA) export policy is a strategic government move to ensure Indonesia’s natural wealth benefits all citizens. He stated that profits from SDA management have long flowed overseas rather than staying within the country, hence the implementation of a single-window export system. Prabowo also stressed the importance of large-scale investment in industrialisation based on downstreaming to add value to natural resources. The government is also strengthening foreign exchange management from exports to maximise economic benefits for the public. Furthermore, Prabowo said Indonesia’s economic development must be grounded in Pancasila principles, including egalitarian economics focused on public interest. He noted that the nation’s economic direction is clearly outlined in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. The economy should be structured as a collective effort based on familial principles, hence strengthening cooperatives is a key government agenda to improve welfare and reduce poverty. ‘Cooperatives must be strengthened, they must rise; they are a tool to lift our people out of poverty and powerlessness. Small and medium enterprises must be bolstered, and villages should become new economic growth centres,’ Prabowo said. President also emphasised that the ultimate goal of national economic development is social justice for all Indonesians. Therefore, economic growth must be accompanied by equitable distribution of development benefits so progress is felt by all societal layers.
