According to detikcom on Monday (4/5/2026), the opening of the KJRI in Chengdu is stipulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 10 of 2026, signed on 2 March 2026. The KJRI in Chengdu is a consular representative under the operational responsibility of the Head of the Diplomatic Representation of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing. The KJRI in Chengdu will handle the regions of Sichuan Province, Chongqing City, Yunnan Province, Shaanxi Province, and Gansu Province. Meanwhile, the determination of the required number and types of positions at the KJRI in Chengdu is regulated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Regulation (Permenlu). “Further provisions regarding the organisational structure and working procedures, as well as the duties, functions, and position levels at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, shall be regulated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Regulation after obtaining approval from the minister responsible for state apparatus affairs,” states Article 6 of the regulation. Regarding funding, the KJRI in Chengdu will be sourced from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) in the Budget Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu).
