Prabowo Signals Cabinet Reshuffle as Two-Year Mark Nears

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has signaled a potential cabinet reshuffle as he approaches the two-year mark of his presidency. In his view, conducting a reshuffle at this stage is a logical step. He noted that his cabinet ministers have had sufficient time to showcase their capabilities.

“I think it’s something logical, yes, after two years. Each has had time to prove their abilities and so on,” Prabowo said during the “Program Presiden Menjawab” (President Answers) program broadcast on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

However, the Head of State emphasized that he continuously evaluates his cabinet members’ performance. For now, he maintained that his team continues to perform well.

Prabowo assured that any decision to reshuffle the cabinet will be grounded in these evaluation results. He hinted at replacing officials who are deemed unsuitable for their roles. Such changes could also target ministries or agencies experiencing operational difficulties in executing their duties.

“Even if there is a reshuffle later on, I think it may include the promotion of individuals. Of course, as an organization, we always seek the right man in the right place, based on competence,” Prabowo stated.

Since assuming the presidency in October 2024, Prabowo has already reshuffled his cabinet six times. The latest reshuffle took place on Monday, September 14, 2026. On that occasion, the President removed Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa from his post, appointing Suahasil Nazara to fill the position.
