Prabowo Showcases Danantara's Performance to Japanese Investors
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto has invited business leaders from Japan to form partnerships with Danantara. He offered Indonesia’s strong reputation and good governance as proof of the country’s seriousness in protecting global investors. “This will provide a sense of security and confidence that we are serious and will protect all investors. And I think our reputation is already very good,” he stated while attending the Business Forum in Tokyo, Japan, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast on Monday. Prabowo also conveyed that Indonesia’s reputation has been rated very highly because it has never defaulted on its debt throughout its history. This commitment has been steadfastly upheld by the government for several decades. Furthermore, Prabowo explained that Danantara is Indonesia’s current strategic investment management body. The professional management of state assets is expected to become a new economic force by ensuring accountable handling. “Almost all of our assets are now under one management. We want rational management with best practices,” he clarified. Prabowo stated that Danantara has demonstrated very strong performance over the past year. In addition, he emphasised that this positive performance serves as evidence of Indonesia’s great potential in managing national wealth more productively. “And the results are very promising. In just the first year of our sovereign wealth fund’s operations, we have seen significant increases. Some of them have resulted in nearly 300 per cent returns on assets,” Prabowo concluded.
