President Prabowo Subianto has dismissed the notion that his administration dislikes foreign capital and intends to expel overseas investors from Indonesia. “Some say Prabowo dislikes and will later expel foreign investors. It turns out it is not like that. I have met many investors who are going to enter,” President Prabowo said at the 18th National Conference of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Bandar Lampung, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat broadcast in Jakarta on Wednesday. This clarification addresses speculation regarding the direction of the government’s investment policy. The President explained that communication with international business players is proceeding intensively. He noted that interest from foreign capitalists remains high for entering various sectors in Indonesia. However, the President provided a caveat regarding prerequisites that must be met by these investors. The government stressed the importance of compliance with regulations in force domestically. According to the President, law enforcement is the primary key to preventing inequality in the national business climate. He stated that the government is committed to stopping irregular business practices. Prabowo assessed that some parties within the country prefer conditions without legal certainty so they can run their businesses wildly. This is what law enforcement officers will assuredly put in order. The government affirmed that protecting the people’s interests remains the main priority in every investment cooperation, without sacrificing good relations with partner countries around the world.
