Prabowo Sets Special Diesel Fuel Price for Fishermen at Rp15,000 per Litre

President Prabowo Subianto has set a special price for diesel fuel for fishing entrepreneurs at Rp15,000 per litre. This was decided during a limited meeting at the Hambalang residence in Bogor Regency on Monday. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that the price of non-subsidised fuel had previously surged to Rp21,300 per litre, while fishermen with vessels under 30 GT already receive subsidised fuel at Rp6,800 per litre. Consequently, the President directed that fishing entrepreneurs with vessels between 30 and 200 GT receive a special fuel price. “Because these fishing entrepreneurs need to be given a special price, it was discussed that the agreed price is Rp15,000 per litre,” Airlangga stated. He noted that the non-subsidised fuel price is based on the average domestic diesel production cost of Rp18,600 per litre, meaning the government is providing a subsidy of Rp3,600 per litre. Airlangga also clarified that the price difference will not be financed through the State Budget but by the Plantation Fund Management Agency. “It is financed by the BPDP because currently the BPDP has sufficient funds to cover this, not the state budget, as the prices of crude oil, diesel, and biodiesel are now close,” he said. This special pricing policy for fishing entrepreneurs is allocated a quota of 400,000 tonnes for the next six months.
