Prabowo Sends Birthday Greetings, Jokowi Responds: 'Thank You, Mr President'

President Prabowo Subianto conveyed birthday greetings to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), on his 65th birthday through social media. Jokowi responded to Prabowo’s post with an expression of gratitude.

The greeting was posted by Prabowo on his Instagram account on Sunday (21/6). The post featured a picture of Jokowi wearing a suit and giving a salute.

“Thank you, Mr President @prabowo,” Jokowi wrote in reply to the post on Monday (22/6).

In addition to the social media post, Prabowo sent a bouquet of purple orchids to Jokowi’s residence in Sumber, Banjarsari, Solo, Central Java. The accompanying message read: “With respect, on a personal note, I wish a Happy 65th Birthday to Mr Joko Widodo.”

Prabowo also personally telephoned Jokowi on Sunday evening to convey his birthday wishes. “Yes, last night President Prabowo called Mr Joko Widodo to wish him a happy birthday,” confirmed Jokowi’s aide, AKBP Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, on Monday (22/6).

Syarif noted the call was brief. “It was not long, just a friendly exchange and birthday greetings. The rest was a private communication between President Prabowo and Mr Jokowi,” he said.
