President Prabowo Subianto escorted Prime Minister Lawrence Wong as he departed from Merdeka Palace, concluding the Leaders’ Retreat between the two leaders in Jakarta on Monday. Footage from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel showed President Prabowo accompanying PM Wong from the Credential Room to the front terrace of the palace after delivering a joint press statement. The two leaders then strolled along the front terrace to the west veranda while chatting casually, sharing laughter during the moment. A state car was parked at the west veranda of Merdeka Palace to take Wong home. Before entering the vehicle, Prabowo shook hands with Wong and they engaged in another warm conversation. Wong briefly stepped back out of the car to continue the discussion with Prabowo before finally departing. The Leaders’ Retreat served as an important momentum for both countries to strengthen their strategic partnership and discuss various priority issues of mutual interest. Prabowo noted that this 2026 retreat was the second held since he became President of Indonesia. He also recalled that Wong was the first foreign leader to visit Indonesia at the start of his presidency. The annual meeting produced 26 strategic cooperation agreements across various sectors, reflecting the increasingly close partnership between Indonesia and Singapore in areas including the economy, investment, defence, energy, environment, digital transformation, and human resource development. The annual bilateral meeting is expected to further solidify Indonesia-Singapore relations and produce concrete steps to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
