Prabowo Seeks Extensive Input Before Appointing New Jampidsus to Replace Febrie Adriansyah

Jakarta, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto has been communicating and gathering various inputs before taking a decision on the appointment of a new Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).

The statement was made by Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi amid public scrutiny of the legal case implicating former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah.

Prasetyo affirmed that the appointment of the Jampidsus is entirely within the President’s authority. However, he declined to disclose in detail the communication process or the considerations made by the head of state before determining who will fill the strategic post.

“Yes, of course there is communication, but regarding this matter, I apologise that we cannot convey everything to the public,” said Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

According to Prasetyo, every decision made by the President, particularly concerning key posts in law enforcement institutions, is not taken unilaterally. Prabowo is said to be considering various aspects, including listening to input from many parties.

“But in terms of the process by which the President (Prabowo Subianto) takes a decision, certainly there are many things that become considerations, and he also requests input, opinions and assessments from many parties,” he said.

The statement emerged as the public scrutinises the regeneration process within the Adhyaksa Corps following the emergence of a legal case implicating former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. The case has drawn attention because it involves alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) in several high-value cases.

Febrie is allegedly implicated in three cases under investigation: alleged corruption and money laundering in the handling of the PT Asabri case for the 2020–2024 period, PT Krakatau Steel for 2023–2025, and the procurement of coal supplies for several coal-fired power plants (PLTU).

In a development in the investigation, the Head of the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor), Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, announced that two suspects had been named.

“We have held a case review and named two suspects, namely DR (Don Ritto) and FA,” said Totok at a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office building on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

Following the naming of the suspects, the investigation into the case was handed over to the Attorney General’s Office.
