Prabowo Seeks Extensive Input Before Appointing New Jampidsus to Replace Febrie Adriansyah

President Prabowo Subianto has been communicating and gathering various inputs before making a decision regarding the appointment of a new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus). The statement was delivered by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi amidst public scrutiny of the legal case implicating former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. Prasetyo emphasised that the appointment process is the full authority of the President. However, he declined to reveal in detail the communication process or the considerations undertaken by the head of state before determining the figure who will fill the strategic position. “Yes, there is communication, but regarding that matter, I apologise that we cannot convey everything to the public,” Prasetyo Hadi said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. According to Prasetyo, every presidential decision, especially concerning important positions in law enforcement institutions, is not taken unilaterally. Prabowo is said to consider various aspects, including listening to input from many parties. “But the process of the President in making a decision will certainly involve many considerations, and he also requests a lot of input, opinions, and assessments from many parties,” he said. The statement emerged as the public highlighted the regeneration process within the Adhyaksa Corps following the surfacing of a legal case involving former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. The case has drawn attention because it involves alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) in several high-value cases. Febrie is suspected of being implicated in three cases currently under investigation: alleged corruption and money laundering in the handling of the PT Asabri case for the 2020–2024 period, the PT Krakatau Steel case for the 2023–2025 period, and the procurement of coal supply for a number of steam power plants (PLTU). In the development of the investigation, the Head of the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor), Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, announced the naming of two suspects. “We have conducted a case review and named two suspects, namely Mr DR (Don Ritto) and Mr FA,” Totok said during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office building on Saturday, 11 July 2026. Following the naming of the suspects, the investigation of the case was handed over to the Attorney General’s Office.
