Prabowo Secures Rp61 Trillion Business Agreements with France
President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to France yielded four commercial agreements worth $3.5 billion (approximately Rp61.25 trillion), marking strengthened economic cooperation between the two nations. The Indonesian Government Communication Bureau (Bakom) stated on Saturday in Jakarta that the agreements were reached during the launch of the France-Indonesia High Level Business Council on 28 May 2026. Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani said the forum was designed to strengthen business ties between Indonesia and France while promoting strategic cooperation across various sectors. ‘This forum is not only a platform for dialogue between businesses but also a driver to promote investment, trade, and strategic cooperation that delivers tangible benefits for both countries,’ said Rosan. The high-level business council’s launch was witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron. The forum brought together 30 leading business and industry executives from Indonesia and France with a combined market capitalisation of $1.3 trillion. The business council is co-chaired by MEDEF International’s France-Indonesia Business Council Chair and Danone CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique, alongside Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie. According to Rosan, French business interest and confidence in Indonesia continue to rise alongside national economic growth prospects and an increasingly competitive investment climate. ‘French business confidence in Indonesia continues to grow. The agreements reached demonstrate that Indonesia is viewed as a strategic partner with long-term growth prospects and a more competitive investment climate,’ Rosan said. Looking ahead, the Indonesia-France Business Council aims to triple bilateral trade value by 2035 through enhanced cooperation between Kadin and Mouvement des Entreprises de France International. President Prabowo Subianto returned to Indonesia on Saturday (30 May) after concluding his working visit to France. Upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, the President was greeted by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita.
