Prabowo Scheduled to Perform Eid al-Fitr Prayer in Aceh

President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to spend the night of takbiran in North Sumatra and perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer for 1447 H in Aceh on Saturday morning (21 March). This was confirmed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in his statement on Friday (20 March). “Yes, that’s correct, President [Prabowo] will spend the night of takbiran in North Sumatra and, God willing, will perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer in Aceh tomorrow morning,” said Teddy. Previously, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar confirmed that Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka will perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta. However, Nasaruddin had not yet confirmed where President Prabowo would perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer. “But what is certain is that tomorrow, God willing, the Vice President will be here with high-ranking state officials, many of whom will perform the prayer here,” said Nasaruddin. “We are still awaiting the final instructions, whether in Banda Aceh or elsewhere; I haven’t received the final instructions yet. But we are on standby here, as assistants, ready wherever the President gives directions. We’ll see how it develops tomorrow,” Nasaruddin added.
