“Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim will make a special visit to Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, on 27 March 2026,” stated the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
Anwar’s visit to Jakarta is said to focus on recent geopolitical developments, particularly the conflict in West Asia. According to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anwar and Prabowo will discuss the impact of the war between the United States-Israel and Iran on regional stability and the global economy, including implications for Malaysia and Indonesia.
The Malaysian government also stated that developments in the West Asia conflict require comprehensive, careful, and coordinated discussions between the two countries. Indonesia and Malaysia, according to them, must align positions and strengthen strategic cooperation in responding to the situation.
“In this context, the two leaders are expected to intensify diplomatic efforts to ease tensions,” said the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, these diplomatic steps are aimed at ensuring the continuity of global trade routes and supply chains that are vital for the welfare of the people of both countries.
