Prabowo Scheduled to Attend May Day Events at Monas and Nganjuk
President of the All-Indonesia Labour Confederation (KSPSI), Andi Gani Nena WeaAndi, has outlined two key events to commemorate Labour Day or May Day on 1 May 2026. He stated that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend both events: at the National Monument or Monas in Jakarta and in Nganjuk, East Java. “Two weeks ago, I was summoned by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to discuss May Day (Labour Day), and it was confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto will be at Monas to celebrate May Day with 200,000 workers at Monas at 08:00 WIB. He will deliver a state speech,” he said on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, as quoted from Antara. After the events at Monas in Jakarta, Andi said, Prabowo along with 115 leaders of confederations and federations across Indonesia will head to Nganjuk to inaugurate the Marsinah Museum as a monument to the struggles of the working class. This year’s May Day event, Andi explained, is a commemoration within the ongoing struggle to safeguard various regulations related to the welfare of workers and the revival of industry in Indonesia across various sectors. Therefore, on that occasion, his side together with the government will discuss further matters regarding workers’ welfare and policies that support the working class in Indonesia. The Head of State will later make a direct announcement regarding improvements in workers’ welfare. “And his policies will be announced after returning from a visit abroad,” he added. On that occasion, Andi said, the KSPSI also appreciates the police for helping to resolve three major layoff cases in the country. The three cases are layoffs at PT Tarumartani Yogyakarta, mass layoffs at PT Daicheng in Bekasi, and layoffs at PT Multi Strada.
