Prabowo Scheduled to Attend Labour Day Commemoration at Monas on 1 May

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend International Labour Day (May Day) at the National Monument, Jakarta, on 1 May 2026.

“President Prabowo, God willing, is scheduled to attend the peak of the 2026 National Labour Day commemoration to be held at the National Monument,” said Qodari during a press conference at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/4).

Qodari stated that the government positions itself not in opposition to the working class. He said the government stands alongside the working class.

He mentioned that the government will always be present as a protector for the working class while safeguarding job sustainability.

Qodari noted that workers’ welfare and a healthy business climate are not mutually conflicting matters.

“Rather, they are two sides of the same goal,” he said.

International Labour Day is celebrated on 1 May each year. This event refers to the strike in the United States on 1 May 1886. At that time, workers fought for their rights to more humane working conditions.

Separately, the Minister of Environment and Forestry, who is also a labour figure, Jumhur Hidayat, said there will be around 300,000 workers attending the May Day rally at Monas on 1 May 2026.

Jumhur said he will come there by motorbike. He plans to attend with around 40,000 workers from Jakarta by motorbike.
