Prabowo Says World in Danger: Great Powers in Conflict, Could Drag Other Nations In
JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the world is now in a dangerous condition following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East after the United States and Israel attacked Iran.
He noted that major powers are currently clashing and have the potential to drag other nations into the conflict. He made these remarks whilst officially inaugurating 218 bailey bridges, armco bridges, and pioneer bridges throughout Indonesia via video conference on Monday, 9 March 2026.
“Fellow citizens, we are in a world full of danger. Major powers are clashing and could drag other nations into difficult circumstances,” Prabowo said.
He was unwilling to downplay the situation, stating that the country would not escape difficulty due to the Middle East conflict.
“Although we are geographically far from that location, our earth has truly become small. What happens in one region will affect other regions,” he explained.
Instead, he emphasised that all parties must be prepared to face difficulties. However, he assured that the country has the strength to overcome them.
The head of state stated that he would brief all Indonesians in the near future on how to harness that strength. One thing that needs to be controlled is combating corruption so that state wealth can be utilised for the people’s benefit, ensuring needs are met regardless of how difficult times become.
Corruption must be eradicated not only at the central government level but also at every tier.
“We must fight corruption at every level. Corruption, abuse of authority, fraud, collusion with unscrupulous businesspeople—these cause state losses. These result in much of our wealth being lost. Wealth that we could use to face any disaster,” Prabowo explained.
The former Defence Minister further expressed confidence that Indonesia would emerge and rise from the crisis in a state of prosperity.
“We will face difficulties, I will not hide that. But we have the strength—I believe we will emerge stronger. We will emerge from this crisis in a stronger and more prosperous state, more productive, more capable of standing on our own feet. We are very grateful for the blessings bestowed upon us by the Almighty,” Prabowo concluded.
