“Farmers have long faced the same problems, which are fertilizer, capital, and difficulties getting their harvests to market. Many harvests are damaged or rot,” Prabowo said in his speech during the inauguration of 1,061 KDMP units in Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday.

As monitored via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, Prabowo noted that many farmers have struggled to sell their harvests due to limited market access, especially in remote areas that are difficult for buyers to reach.

According to him, the presence of KDMP will help farmers because the cooperatives will have their own trucks and pickup vehicles to transport harvests to markets chosen by farmers.

“The cooperatives will have their own trucks and pickups. They will be able to deliver their harvests to the places and markets they choose,” he said.

Prabowo explained that the co-ops will also sell staple goods and subsidized products, distribute subsidized gas and fertilizer, provide low-interest credit services, offer logistics services in cooperation with Pos Indonesia, and purchase rice directly from farmers.

In addition, the government will also establish affordable pharmacies through the cooperatives so that people across Indonesia can access medicines at lower prices.

On the occasion, Prabowo said the Indonesian government is targeting the inauguration of 30,000 cooperatives by next August.

He also called on the public to abandon what he described as a “losing mentality,” stressing that Indonesia must become a winning nation.

“We must eliminate the mentality that we are a weak nation, that we are a defeated nation. No. We must not become a losing nation. We must become a winning nation, and we will win,” he concluded.
