Prabowo Says PDIP's Heart is with the Government, PKB: A True Democrat

The Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives, Daniel Johan, has responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s statement regarding political coalitions and his belief that the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) shares the same heart as the government. Daniel Johan assessed that Prabowo is a true democrat. “President Prabowo Subianto’s statement at the 28th PKB anniversary celebration is a manifestation of a true democrat’s views,” Daniel Johan said on Sunday (26/7/2026). Daniel stated that Prabowo’s remarks serve as an important message that in building the nation, everyone shares the same desire to advance the people. He added that the statement illustrates that differences are normal in a democracy. “It is an important message that in building the nation, we all share the same heart, which is the desire for our nation and state to progress and for the people to prosper in all fields. Differences of opinion are a natural part of democratic life, but national interest must remain the common ground for all political forces,” he said. Furthermore, the member of House Commission IV said that all parties, whether inside or outside the government, have an equal responsibility to maintain unity, safeguard democracy, and realise the nation’s ideals. This is in accordance with the mandate in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, namely to protect the entire Indonesian nation, promote public welfare, educate the nation’s life, and participate in establishing world order. “The spirit of mutual cooperation and cross-party collaboration needs to be continuously strengthened in building the country; constructive criticism should be used as a vitamin to improve various issues,” he added. He also urged all parties to realise that the nation’s future challenges are increasingly complex, particularly in the areas of food security, agriculture and fisheries, and public welfare. “All of this requires synergy from all elements of the nation. Politics must ultimately be a means of providing solutions for the people, not just an arena for power competition. We all share the same heart in advancing this nation and state,” he concluded. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto spoke about the condition of political coalitions during his administration, including the stance of PDIP. Prabowo said that PDIP actually shares the same heart as him. “So, competition is good. Competing is good. Sometimes we part ways, that is fine. Later we will join together again,” Prabowo said during his speech at the 28th PKB anniversary celebration at the Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/7/2026) evening. “PDIP also actually shares the same heart as us, really. Check it, dig into their hearts. It is actually the same,” he said.
