Prabowo Says Indonesia's Waste Problem Will Be Resolved in 2-3 Years
President Prabowo Subianto stated that waste management can be resolved with technologies that are not overly expensive, and the waste issue in Indonesian cities can be settled within the next two to three years. “We now have technology, technology for cleaning waste, made by us ourselves, not too expensive,” said President Prabowo Subianto during a briefing at the government working meeting of members of the Merah Putih Cabinet at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday. With the optimisation of the role of universities and local innovations, the President stated that the waste issue faced in the country can be resolved without needing to purchase expensive technology from abroad. “Within two to three years, the waste across all of Indonesia will be resolved by us. There will be no city, no road, no part of Indonesia that smells of waste,” he added. The President assured that the waste issue will be resolved from Sabang to Merauke, a statement that was met with applause from the briefing participants. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto gathered ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads, and echelon I officials at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. In that meeting, the President conveyed strategic directives related to government policies and state administration. Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI) Angga Raka Prabowo explained that this meeting deliberately involved up to the echelon I level to ensure that the policy direction can be understood and implemented comprehensively by the entire government apparatus. “The President feels it is important to convey directly to all echelon one because we are all one unit. In the ministries, there are ministers, supported by echelon one and the ranks below them,” said Angga. This meeting is part of efforts to strengthen cross-ministerial and agency coordination, while ensuring that policy implementation runs in sync down to the technical level across the entire bureaucratic structure.
