Prabowo Says Indonesia Is Rising: We Are No Longer "The Sleeping Giant"

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasised that Indonesia is no longer a sleeping giant, as this “giant” is rising and will astonish the world.

“Next year, we will create a surprise for the entire world. Indonesia is rising. This giant is waking up. We will no longer be the sleeping giant. We are rising,” said Prabowo during the inauguration of the electric bus and truck vehicle factory of PT VKTR Sakti Industries (PT VKTR Mobilitas Teknologi Tbk) in Magelang, Central Java, on Thursday (9/4/2026).

According to him, Indonesia possesses vast resources, enabling it to face various global challenges.

“We have great strength. We are truly serious. We will be independent, we will be strong, we will stand on our own feet,” said Prabowo.

“So for the young people, our future is bright,” he stressed.

The Head of State explained that those who have closed their eyes and hearts will continue to see this country as dark, even though it is truly undergoing transformation.

“What can we do with people whose hearts are not sincere, whose eyes are blurred, seeing Indonesia as dark? But Indonesia is not dark, Indonesia is very bright, we are very strong, increasingly strong,” he asserted.
