Prabowo Says Indonesia is Rising: Next Year We Will Create a Surprise

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto expressed his optimism about Indonesia, which is rising and will become a great power in the future.

During his speech at the inauguration of the Electric Commercial Vehicle Assembly Plant in Magelang, Prabowo is confident that Indonesia will become a respected nation in the world.

“Next year we will create a surprise for the entire world. Indonesia is rising. This giant is waking up. We will no longer be the sleeping giant. We are rising,” said Prabowo in his speech in Magelang, Central Java, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast on Thursday (9/4/2026).

From natural resources, technological capabilities, to government efforts to strengthen self-reliance in various strategic sectors.

With these various potentials, Prabowo is confident that Indonesia will become a country capable of facing global challenges.

“We have great strength. We are truly serious. We will be independent, we will be strong, we will stand on our own feet,” Prabowo is convinced.

He wants Indonesia not only to be a market, but also a major producer of vehicles that can compete at the global level.

“If Japan has Isuzu, has Hino, if Korea has Hyundai, Daewoo. I hope in a few years we will see VKTR as a champion, one of Indonesia’s champions,” said Prabowo.

Technological progress must be realised into real industrial strength to provide broad economic impact for the nation.

“I think industrialisation is the final part of a nation’s technological resurgence. Technology must be processed into industry so that it benefits a nation,” said Prabowo.
