Jakarta - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stressed that the number of clashes and casualties in Gaza, Palestine cannot be halted instantaneously, even as various diplomatic efforts continue to curb violence in the region. According to Teddy, the Indonesian Government has undertaken various efforts, including joining the Board of Peace (BoP) as a diplomatic step to push for peace in the Middle East. ‘President Prabowo emphasises that this decision is a concrete step taken as part of efforts to reduce the number of conflicts and casualties in Palestine,’ Teddy said in a post on the Secretariat of the Cabinet’s Instagram on Friday. The death toll, which had previously surpassed 70,000 people in the 2024-2025 period, has since fallen to around 600 to 1,000 in the last six months. Nevertheless, the President stressed that a total cessation of the conflict cannot occur instantly. Clashes and casualties continue in several areas, but at a much lower intensity than before. ‘A total cessation of the conflict cannot happen immediately. There are still some conflicts and casualties, but the numbers are very much lower,’ Teddy said. The Indonesian government, said Teddy, will continue to push various diplomatic efforts with other countries to curb the escalation of the conflict and hasten the creation of a more permanent peace in Palestine.
