Prabowo Says Energy Security Concept Initiated During SBY Era

President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that efforts to strengthen national energy security are the result of sustained collaboration built by previous administrations. The President stated that the idea was first launched in 2008 during the administration of the 6th President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), continued under President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), and is now being carried forward by his own government, culminating in the successful implementation of the B50 mandate. “Imagine, from 2008, that was the SBY government. It was continued during the Jokowi government. At the end, I continued it. It is like a relay,” President Prabowo said during the launch of the B50 Biodiesel Mandate at the KM 57 Rest Area in Karawang Regency, West Java, on Thursday. The President stated that this achievement is the result of collaboration between various parties, including ministries, institutions, and stakeholders in the energy and palm oil sectors. “We work together, teamwork. This minister has contributed, that one has contributed. We could not achieve B50 without the support of many parties,” he said. Prabowo stressed that the biodiesel development programme was not a policy born in a single administration period. He noted that policy continuity is the key to national development success, arguing that a strategic programme will not yield results if it is not continued by the next government. Therefore, Prabowo invited all parties to appreciate the contributions of previous leaders and to refrain from mutual criticism or slander. He also reminded that differences of opinion are normal in life, but the government remains committed to implementing policies deemed best for the nation’s interests. “Some choose the evil path, some choose the good path. We are on the straight path, on the right path,” he said.
