Prabowo Satisfied to Ride Indonesian-Made Car, Despite Initial Leaks During Rain
President Prabowo Subianto has admitted to feeling deep satisfaction and pride in being able to use an Indonesian-made car after his inauguration, even though the vehicle’s components are not entirely sourced from Indonesia. He noted that no car in the world has components produced exclusively in a single country.
The statement was made by Prabowo during the KSTI 2026 National Gathering at the JCC Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, 26 June 2026.
“I have a deep satisfaction in my heart. When I was inaugurated, I returned from the ceremony and I was able to ride in an Indonesian-made car,” said Prabowo.
“The design is Indonesian, it is made in Indonesia, though not 100 per cent. And there is no car in the world that is 100 per cent the product of one country. But if it is 65 per cent, 70 per cent, we can already claim it as made in Indonesia,” he continued.
Prabowo also recounted the risks experienced during the early days of using the Indonesian-made car. He said that during rain, the car had leaked.
“The risk is, now during my presidency I must ride in an Indonesian-made car. In the first few months, it was decent, except when it rained heavily. When it rained heavily, it did leak a bit,” he said.
Experiencing this condition, Prabowo returned the car for repairs. He admitted he had no problem with the situation.
“But I returned it, I said, ‘Professor Sigit, what’s this, the presidential car is leaking? Fix it!’ It’s fine. At least we have started. We must dare to start! We are the fourth largest country in the world. We are a nation of extraordinary wealth,” concluded Prabowo.
