Prabowo Rides Maung Vehicle Abroad for the First Time

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - For the first time, President Prabowo Subianto used the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine vehicle abroad, specifically in the Philippines, after it had previously only been used domestically.

“Maung, from within the country, for Indonesia, takes the stage on the world arena. President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Cebu, Philippines, on Thursday afternoon, 7 May 2026, to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit,” said Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel TNI Teddy Indra Wijaya in his statement on Thursday (7/5/2026).

Teddy explained that during his stay in the Philippines, Prabowo would use the Maung, known as a robust light tactical vehicle.

He revealed that the Maung had been developed since Prabowo served as Minister of Defence from 2019 to 2024.

“And currently, its production at Pindad has reached more than 3,200 units, and it has been used in various domestic operations and needs,” he clarified.

Teddy stated that Prabowo has been using the Maung since being inaugurated as President of the Republic of Indonesia on 20 October 2024.

Teddy said that the use of the Maung at this international forum is not merely as a means of transportation, but as a symbol of national independence, self-confidence of the nation, and progress in Indonesia’s national industry.

“The Maung becomes a symbol of diplomacy. From within the country, for Indonesia, present on the world stage,” he added.
