Prabowo: RI-Russia Talks Highly Productive with Rapid Progress
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the discussions and developments in cooperation between Indonesia and Russia are yielding highly productive results and showing rapid progress in various fields.
This was conveyed by Prabowo in the presence of Putin during the bilateral meeting between the two national leaders at the Kremlin Palace, Moscow, Russia, on Monday local time.
Prabowo revealed that in recent months, he has met with numerous delegations as well as representatives from the Russian government and companies, both in Jakarta and Moscow.
“I have just met several Russian officials and some Russian companies. I am very grateful because the discussions were highly productive,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo stated that almost all fields of cooperation previously agreed upon between Indonesia and Russia are now showing very significant developments.
“Almost all the fields we agreed on a few months ago are experiencing rapid progress,” he said.
Nevertheless, Prabowo emphasised that there are still several matters that need to be accelerated and will receive his direct attention.
“There are one or two things that we need to speed up; I will handle them personally soon,” said Prabowo.
President Putin stated that Russia is very open to establishing cooperation in various fields with Indonesia. He expressed great pleasure with the bilateral meeting with Prabowo. For him, this bilateral meeting is taking place in a very substantive manner.
“A while ago, we received a declaration regarding strategic partnership. I am very pleased that we are implementing steps that give meaningful and substantial content to the relations between the two countries,” he said.
Putin then highlighted the developments in economic and trade cooperation, which is one of the main pillars of bilateral relations between the two countries. According to him, the trade value between Indonesia and Russia has experienced a significant increase of 12 per cent.
He affirmed that both countries continue to prioritise strengthening cooperation in several strategic sectors deemed to play a key role in bilateral relations. He mentioned that various opportunities for cooperation development have been intensively discussed by both parties.
“Among others, we discussed cooperation in the energy sector, in the space sector, also in the agricultural sector, in the industrial producer sector, as well as in the pharmaceutical sector. We attach great importance to developing cooperation in the humanitarian field, including in the education sector,” said Putin.
