Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the policy of exporting strategic commodities through a single gateway is being implemented to improve governance and prevent false reporting in export activities.

During his speech at the 28th anniversary commemoration of the National Mandate Party (PAN) monitored online in Jakarta on Friday night, Prabowo said that exports, which he assessed as being unclear until now, will be unified through State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

“We are also now unifying all exports that have been unclear, full of lies, and full of false reports; they must now go through SOEs, through a single gateway,” he said.

Prabowo stated that this improvement is part of the government’s efforts to refine the management of national wealth so that the results of economic activities provide greater benefits to the public.

According to him, the government wants Indonesia’s natural wealth to be managed transparently and to yield optimal results for the country.

In addition to implementing the single-gateway export policy, Prabowo said the government will establish a Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange, which is targeted to begin operations on 1 January 2027.

“We will also create the first state-owned mineral exchange starting 1 January 2027,” he said.

The plan to form the Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange was previously announced by Prabowo when delivering the Government’s Statement on the 2027 State Budget Bill (RUU APBN) and the Financial Note at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8).

At that time, Prabowo mentioned that the formation of the exchange is a follow-up stage to the single-gateway export policy being implemented by the government.

The Mineral and Strategic Commodity Exchange is planned to be under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and is targeted to start operating on 1 January 2027.

The government also aims to establish an Indonesia Reference Price for various major export commodities through this exchange.

Prabowo noted that Indonesia is one of the world’s producers of various important commodities, including palm oil, nickel, tin, coal, gold, coffee, and rubber.

According to him, the existence of a domestic exchange is necessary so that Indonesia is not merely a producer, but also holds a stronger position in the price formation of the commodities it produces.
