President Prabowo Subianto gathered around 800 high-ranking state officials, from ministers and echelon I officials to top TNI-Polri leaders, the Attorney General’s Office, and BUMN directors, in the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4). The meeting was held as part of the Government Working Meeting to deliver briefings and evaluate the course of governance.

In his briefing, President Prabowo instilled optimism among the bureaucrats who have been carrying out their mandate for approximately one year and six months since October 2024.

“The purpose of this working meeting is an opportunity for me to convey directives; it can be said that for over a year, we have been carrying out our mandate as the people’s representatives,” said President Prabowo at the start of his address.

In front of the ranks of state officials, the President appreciated the bureaucracy’s performance in steering the nation’s direction amid the uncertain global geopolitical dynamics.

“Alhamdulillah, we have proven that our government is effective, our government is reliable, and can carry out state duties correctly and well,” Prabowo stressed.

The President added that this positive assessment is not merely a claim but is evidenced by various achievements that can be measured mathematically and have tangible physical manifestations in the field.

While giving appreciation, the Head of State also issued a stern warning regarding potential threats looming over many countries, including Indonesia. There are three main crises highlighted by the President: the food crisis, energy crisis, and water crisis.

In addition to resource issues, President Prabowo reminded the bureaucrats to be alert to threats arising from technological advancements. He spotlighted the proliferation of fake news and manipulative content produced by artificial intelligence.

“The threat of fake news, AI-manipulated contents, such as deepfakes, must be a serious concern,” he added.

The working meeting, which began at 2:00 PM WIB, proceeded in a solemn atmosphere. President Prabowo appeared wearing a white safari shirt and black peci, in line with the majority of attendees, except for TNI leaders who wore their respective branch’s ceremonial uniforms.

Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia holds vital energy and trade routes in East Asia. The government is urged to be aware, alert, and work with precision.

Prabowo affirmed that his government has been effective for 1.5 years, while assessing that Indonesia’s condition remains secure amid the Middle East crisis and energy turbulence.
