President Prabowo Subianto revealed that the profit of state-owned fertiliser producer PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) soared by 252.8%. He made the announcement during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) on Friday (14/8/2026).

“Together with the profit of PT Pupuk Indonesia, a state-owned enterprise, its profit rose by 252.8%,” he stated.

This resulted in a 20% reduction in fertiliser prices, the first such decrease in history. “For the first time, we have been able to lower fertiliser prices for the people,” he said.

According to him, the price reduction did not affect the sufficient availability of fertiliser for the public. “So our people now find it easy to obtain fertiliser, and because of that production has increased, and because of that we are also moving faster towards food self-sufficiency,” he added.

For context, Pupuk Indonesia recorded a stellar performance with a net profit of Rp8.51 trillion, growing 253% compared to Rp2.41 trillion in the first half of 2025.

Previously, the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BP BUMN) encouraged PT Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company (PIHC) to strengthen its business performance while maintaining its role in supporting national food security.

Head of BP BUMN Dony Oskaria said that the various transformation efforts undertaken by the company have shown positive results, reflected in significant financial performance growth up to May 2026.

Pupuk Indonesia Group recorded year-to-date revenue of Rp47.71 trillion, growing 49% compared to the same period the previous year.

The increasingly strong operational performance also drove EBITDA to reach Rp11.36 trillion, an increase of 132%, while net profit was recorded at Rp6.70 trillion, surging 230% year-on-year.

Dony assessed that the performance achieved by Pupuk Indonesia shows that the business transformation being carried out by the company is on the right track and needs to be continuously strengthened to face various future challenges.

“The transformation has started to show results. Going forward, what needs to be maintained is consistency, while remaining ready to face market and policy changes,” he said in a written statement on Friday (19/6/2026).

Through strengthened transformation, more adaptive risk management, and improved distribution governance, Pupuk Indonesia is expected to continue enhancing the company’s competitiveness while strengthening its contribution to supporting national food security on a sustainable basis.
