President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that a country’s success is not determined by its ability to avoid problems, but by the courage to acknowledge shortcomings and find solutions to every challenge faced. The statement was made by Prabowo at the closing of the National Sarasehan of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Sunday, 28 June 2026. The event was attended by around 2,600 participants consisting of rectors and academics from various universities in Indonesia. According to Prabowo, every problem must be faced openly and must not be hidden. The government, he said, must have the courage to admit its shortcomings as a first step to improving governance and producing the right solutions. “Because I believe that difficulties must be faced. Difficulties must be faced, and we must dare to face difficulties, dare to admit difficulties, and work hard to find solutions to difficulties,” said Prabowo. Prabowo said this view was obtained from various inputs he had received. According to him, organisations, societies, and countries that are able to develop are those that do not turn a blind eye to their weaknesses, but instead dare to identify problems and find solutions. “I got this from a lot of input. Successful organisations, societies, and countries are those that dare to know, seek out difficulties and shortcomings, and then overcome them,” said Prabowo. He assessed that a culture open to criticism, suggestions, and evaluation is an important part of building a government that continues to develop and is able to answer challenges. On the occasion, the President also expressed his appreciation to the rectors and academics who had provided various suggestions and questions to the government. Prabowo confirmed that all the input would be studied one by one as material to refine various government policies in the future. “I have received a list of suggestions and a list of questions that were submitted, quite a lot. I promise I will pay attention to them one by one,” he said. According to him, collaboration between the government and academics is one of the important elements in producing more targeted policies.
