Prabowo Reveals Intellectual Actors Behind Rioting Demonstrations

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that he has received information regarding the parties behind several demonstrations that recently escalated into riots.

This was revealed during a dialogue with senior journalists and experts at Padepoon Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday (6/9/2026). During the session, Prabowo was questioned regarding the political motives within the protests and the identities of the intellectual actors involved.

“Indonesia will be safe if we can eradicate corruption. Naturally, corruptors will not be pleased,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo confirmed that corrupt individuals are the intellectual actors driving the demonstrations, including those involved in ‘under-invoicing’ practices or the manipulation of export reports.

“That is roughly the case. That is one group (corruptors). Secondly, I also say that for over 30 years, our wealth has, in my view, been misappropriated through under-invoicing practices,” he replied.

The Head of State explained that over the last 34 years, these fraudulent reporting practices have caused the state to lose up to US$908 billion or Rp15,000 trillion.

Furthermore, he admitted to receiving reports that many youths are being paid between Rp100,000 and Rp200,000 to participate in the demonstrations, including reports identifying the intellectual actors.

“We are already moving in that direction,” answered Prabowo. “I say, if we want order, who benefits from that order? If we want to eradicate drugs, do we expect drug mafias to remain silent?”
