Prabowo Reveals Indonesia's Wealth, Alludes to Foreign Powers Once Again

Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has asked all central and regional government ranks, as well as leaders of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), to be aware of the nation’s wealth.

“We as chosen leaders are not aware of how great the Indonesian nation is, how rich the Indonesian nation is, how strong the Indonesian nation is,” said Prabowo during the Briefing of the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Working Meeting of the Government Members of the Red and White Cabinet at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

According to Prabowo, this issue has been overlooked for a long time. There are ambitions and egos from certain parties that are dictated by foreign powers, making it difficult for Indonesia to advance.

“We are not aware, we are carried away by our short-term thinking. We are carried away by our respective ambitions and egos—this I want, that I want, me, us, I. We are not aware that for hundreds of years these egos and ambitions have been used by foreign powers,” he explained.
