President Prabowo Subianto is confident that Indonesia can emerge from the current global crisis. He conveyed this conviction whilst attending the first anniversary celebration of Danantara Indonesia at Wisma Danantara Indonesia in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

According to the head of state, the world is currently characterised by uncertainty, with crises occurring everywhere.

“But brothers and sisters, crises always generate opportunities. A crisis is a test, a crisis is a stepping stone. The strong will survive, the weak will continue to suffer. This is a lesson from history,” Prabowo said.

“I am confident and believe that the Indonesian nation has been blessed with extraordinary natural wealth and we are capable of emerging from this crisis. We will emerge from this crisis even stronger,” he continued.

Prabowo characterised the crisis as a blessing in disguise. Whilst full of difficulties and challenges, it compels the government to accelerate its positive initiatives.

“We already have a food self-sufficiency plan, and alhamdulillah, part of it has been achieved. We already have the intention for energy self-sufficiency and we are confident we will achieve this within four years,” Prabowo said.

“But this forces us to accelerate. We must speed up. We have many alternatives. We are confident we can address this problem. Many countries are in more dire circumstances than we are,” he added.

Furthermore, Prabowo noted that Indonesia possesses significant quantities of palm oil and other commodities such as cassava, maize, and sugar cane.

“We will have sufficient cassava. We can obtain fuel from maize and sugar cane. Brothers and sisters, we have geothermal reserves that are very large—if I am not mistaken, the second largest reserves in the world—which have not been fully exploited,” Prabowo said.

“Brothers and sisters, we will carry out electrification and renewable energy from solar power. In the shortest possible time, we will build 100 gigawatts. This is already my order; this is already my decision. And we will prove to the world that we are faster and more effective in this matter,” he concluded.
