Prabowo reveals call from Australian PM Albanese requesting Indonesia sell fertiliser
President Prabowo Subianto revealed that he received a telephone call from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who requested Indonesia’s willingness to sell fertiliser to Australia. The reason, the President continued, is that Indonesia has a surplus of fertiliser. “Alhamdulillah, we have now started exporting. We are now helping other countries. I received a call from the Australian Prime Minister. He thanked Indonesia for having a surplus of fertiliser and asked if we could sell fertiliser to them,” President Prabowo said during the peak event of the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen Contact Week in Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province, on Wednesday afternoon. “I said: Sell! Send it to them! Many countries are asking for fertiliser from us. Other countries are asking for rice from us, corn from us, go ahead. As long as the price is right, Minister of Agriculture. Farmers must not lose out,” he continued before tens of thousands of farmers and fishermen. At the event, the President also re-announced that Indonesia has achieved food self-sufficiency, particularly in rice, within just over a year of his administration. “I feel grateful, we are food self-sufficient. We produce food, rice, corn, almost all food commodities we produce, and our rice and corn production is the highest since the country was founded, and this is the result of your hard work,” President Prabowo said. He expressed his gratitude to the tens of thousands of farmers and fishermen who filled the David-Tony Sports Hall in Gorontalo on Wednesday afternoon, as well as to various farmer and fishermen organisations. He also thanked state officials overseeing agriculture, marine affairs, and fisheries, including Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan Ashaf, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. “Only in Indonesia does the police handle agriculture. Only, perhaps, in Indonesia are soldiers often found in the rice fields. Only in Indonesia does the Navy plant soybeans. Only in Indonesia does the Air Force plant sugarcane. But this is strategic. This is why Indonesia will rise powerfully. We will rise to become a great nation,” President Prabowo stated.
