Prabowo Reveals 66 Million Households Receive Subsidised LPG

President Prabowo Subianto has revealed the scale of energy subsidies provided by the government to the public. Tens of millions of households across Indonesia benefit from various forms of subsidy, ranging from LPG and fuel to electricity.

He detailed that some 66.4 million households receive LPG subsidies, a figure he said far exceeds those of neighbouring countries.

“LPG subsidies — 66 million households receive LPG subsidies, 66.4 million households, twice as many as Malaysia and twelve times Singapore. Not bad for the Indonesian government,” Prabowo said during a Full Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (20/7/2026).

According to him, this success is the result of hard work by successive governments, from the era of Indonesia’s first president, Soekarno, to the present day.

“My friends, without our realising it, what we have achieved — and as I always say, let us be aware that this is our shared achievement, from the time of Bung Karno until now,” he said.

Beyond LPG subsidies, Prabowo also outlined various other energy subsidy programmes. For diesel fuel, for instance, the government provides subsidies and compensation to approximately 484,000 households.

Meanwhile, compensation for Pertalite fuel amounts to around Rp89,000 per month, benefiting nearly 34 million households. In addition, the government distributes electricity subsidies and compensation of roughly Rp130,000 to Rp150,000 per month to 87 million households.

“Show me which country is like us — there will always be some that are greater. But the Indonesian nation is not bad. Don’t underestimate us — we are strong. We are strong, we are rich, and we will become richer,” he said.
