Prabowo Reveals 10,000 Puskesmas from Soeharto Era Remain Unrenovated
President Prabowo Subianto has requested the immediate renovation of 5,000 puskesmas from the time of Indonesia’s second president, Soeharto.
He made this statement at the handover event of Rp10.2 trillion from the recovery of administrative forestry fines by the Kejaksaan Agung’s Satgas PKH on Wednesday (13/5).
Prabowo stated that currently, around 10,000 puskesmas have not undergone rejuvenation in the last 30 years.
“I recently toured remote areas and received reports from our Minister of Health that we have 10,000 puskesmas from Pak Harto’s time—30 years—and those puskesmas have never been repaired,” he explained.
Therefore, he requested that the money handed over by Satgas PKH today be used to repair at least 5,000 puskesmas, assuming each puskesmas requires Rp2 billion in costs.
“How much money do you need to repair 10,000? Roughly Rp2 billion per puskesmas. So we need about Rp20 trillion. Brothers and sisters, today that means we can complete 5,000 puskesmas with Rp10 trillion,” he said.
In addition to puskesmas, Prabowo stated that the funds from Satgas PKH will also be used to repair schools and madrasahs, which have been started gradually since last year.
“With this money—if we don’t save it, that money will be lost, eaten up by corruptors and thieves,” he remarked.
