Jakarta (ANTARA) - A number of Indonesian students and alumni from Russian universities in Moscow have conveyed their hopes to President Prabowo Subianto, who on Monday (13/4) returned to visit Russia’s capital and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Sellita, one of the alumni from a Moscow university who is currently working as an academic, hopes that Prabowo’s visit to Russia will further strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, particularly in the field of education.

“I hope that Indonesia-Russia cooperation in education does not only focus on students, but also includes academics and experts who are interested in conducting further research in Russia, especially in Moscow,” said Sellita after the welcoming event for President Prabowo in Moscow on Monday, as quoted from the official broadcast of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency, confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Sellita, who graduated from the Higher School of Economics (HSE) Moscow in 2020, also hopes that in the future more Indonesian students will have the opportunity to pursue education in Russia.

“I also hope for an increase in the number of Indonesian students going to Russia so that they can get the same opportunities as previous alumni and Indonesian students who are currently studying in Russia,” she said.

On the same occasion, Sellita was also impressed by the figure of President Prabowo, whom she described as calm and humble.

“The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is very calm. Even though the conditions in Moscow are quite cold at the moment, he remained warm in welcoming us. We were also very pleased to welcome him in Moscow,” she said.

“My hope for Mr President is that he always stays healthy. At an age that is no longer young, his spirit remains high. I hope Mr continues to be spirited in leading us all and continuing the struggle for the Indonesian nation. Keep up the spirit, Sir!” she said.

The same hopes were also expressed by Alya, an Indonesian student who is currently studying business at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

“My hope going forward is for more cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, especially in the field of education, such as increasing the number of students who receive scholarships to come to Russia,” she said.

Alya then also prayed for President Prabowo to always be healthy and continue to fight for the interests of the Indonesian people.

“My hope for Mr is that he always stays healthy and continues to strive for the best for Indonesia in the future,” she said.

On that occasion, Alya also shared her impressions of President Prabowo’s warm figure.

Alya reiterated her first impression when meeting President Prabowo during the winter in Moscow last year.

“When he arrived last December, when we were outside in the heavy snowfall, Mr (President) invited us into the hotel and welcomed us very well,” said Alya.
