Prabowo Returns to Amman for Meeting with King of Jordan
Amman (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto returned to Amman, Jordan, on Tuesday, to meet with his friend, the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, on Wednesday (25 February).
The Garuda Indonesia aircraft, PK-GIF, carrying President Prabowo and a limited delegation, landed at the Royal Jordanian Air Force Base (Lanud) Marka, Amman, on Tuesday at 19:53 local time, after departing from London, England, on Tuesday afternoon.
The PK-GIF aircraft carrying President Prabowo was directly escorted by fighter jets from the Royal Jordanian Air Force as the Garuda Indonesia aircraft entered Jordanian airspace.
President Prabowo’s arrival was greeted by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah al-Hashimi and several Jordanian government officials.
Among the Indonesian officials present were the Indonesian Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ade Padmo Sarwono, and the Indonesian Defence Attaché to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Colonel Dafris D. Syahruddin.
A guard of honour, wearing full uniform, stood in neat rows on either side, saluting President Prabowo.
President Prabowo then inspected the troops, returning the salute from the Jordanian soldiers, accompanied by the Crown Prince.
From London, President Prabowo was accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, and the Special Assistant to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for Communication and Policy Analysis.
At the hotel where President Prabowo was staying, dozens of diaspora members and students had prepared to welcome the Head of State in Amman.
Some of them were preparing to line up in the lobby area to meet and greet President Prabowo.
However, as Minister of Defence and as the elected President, President Prabowo had previously met with the King of Jordan in June 2024 to discuss several issues, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Palestine.
Meanwhile, King Abdullah II reciprocated President Prabowo’s official visit by travelling to Jakarta in November 2025.
During their meeting in Jakarta, President Prabowo asked the King of Jordan to consider Indonesia as his second home.
In Amman, on Wednesday (25 February), President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with King Abdullah II at the Al Husseiniya Palace.
As part of the visit on the same day, President Prabowo is also scheduled to witness the signing of cooperation agreements in several sectors between Indonesia and Jordan.
After completing all the activities of his visit in Amman, President Prabowo is scheduled to leave Jordan on Wednesday afternoon.
